Our learning theme right now is the Gruffalo which is a fantastic book about a quick-witted mouse taking a stroll through the woods where he meets a fox, an owl, and a snake who all want to eat him! So, Mouse invents a Gruffalo.
We are using the Gruffalo to learn about literacy, language, numeracy and mathematics with the children going on Gruffalo scavenger hunts, doing Gruffalo jigsaw puzzles and matching games.
The children have also been discussing the Gruffalo at home and the first thing they do when coming to nursery in the morning is exploring the sensory tray, finding the Gruffalo puppets and listening to the storybook CD.
