A couple of weeks ago, we began discussing the changing of the seasons, from summer to Autumn. We spoke about what happens in Autumn, the changing colours of the leaves, the change in weather and temperature, the clothes we will wear, animals going into hibernation and how it is now time to harvest the food that we have been growing over the past year. This afternoon the children skipped over to the polytunnel to help harvest corn they’ve watched grow from tiny seedlings. After uprooting them the children as a team carried whole plants out to the gravel area then discussed, looked, and felt the roots of the corn that helped it grow whilst keeping its stalk upright.
